This piece of Lake Superior Agate ranges in color from white to reddish brown.
Like many stones, fractures are visible which attests to the severe environment that this specimen was in. Lake Superior Agates were worn out of their host rock by the many glaciers that moved through this area during the ice ages. These glaciers pulverized the surrounding basalt and freed the agate. The outside of the agates are smoothed due to the grinding of the glaciers and also from the sand and water of Lake Superior.
This stone has been tumbled. The stone weighs 0.8 ozs and is approx. 1 1/2 inches wide and 1 inch tall and 1 inch deep (at it's thickest point).
