Cutting and polishing rocks has been a longtime hobby of mine. I love the excitement of cutting open a rock and seeing the design that has been hidden inside it. Once you cut one stone, you just have to see what's inside the next. Before long, you have a pile cut that needs to be polished. If you have been slabbing, you have lots of material for making jewelry or for tumbling. If I have just been cutting them in half, I have lots to polish on my high speed sander. Sometimes I cut thicker slabs so that I can make desk sets or other projects. There is no end to what you can do. When you have been doing this for a while, it's only natural to start a business as a way to sell off some of the beautiful items that you have made (after all, you can't keep everything).
